Girls Rock!RVA Benefit Event @ Strange Matter. Saturday, August 25th. 9pm.

Food Fight!

Time: 9 p.m.

Date: Saturday, August 25th, 2012

Location: Strange Matter 929 W. Grace St. RVA

This event is also a benefit for Girls Rock!RVA.

Food fight is a battle of the bands with a twist, each band is to be made up entirely of coworkers from different restaurants around Richmond. Each band will get a ten-minute set to prove their skills to the crowd. This is our way of celebrating music and food in Richmond. There are so many awesome restaurants in this city that just wouldn’t be the same without the brilliant artists and musicians that keep the food flowing.

This benefit is put together by our friends at Quickness RVA.  Thanks Quickness!

The Sparklers

Fun Fact: From the beginning of camp, they all seemed to really understand the camp purpose of mutual respect and communication. It was so amazing to see them getting even better over the course of the week at applying the principles we learned in workshops: kindness, communication, and empathizing with one another. Not only have they been excellent bandmates and friends to each other, they were so kind and respectful to the volunteers, too. Everyone enjoyed working with them, and most importantly, they all enjoyed working with each other.

The Fruit Roll Up Rollers

Killer Kats
Fun Fact:The whole band screamed the song together in practice and at the rock the show to make their vocalist feel confident.

The Loose Markers
Fun Fact: After naming random things around the room (windows,AC unit, fan, etc…) for the band name, the band found a box of loose markers. Once they all agreed on the name, The Loose Markers were born. The band came up with their song while telling true life, funny stories. The song is about Mr. Chimmychungas, the hamster who gets stuck in a toilet paper tube.

Panda Attack
Song Name: If Girls Rule the World

Offbeat
Song Name: Black and Blue about war, humanity, why?

The Five Hot Chili Sisters
Fun Fact: The Five Hot Chili Sisters worked really hard to check in with one another and how they were feeling about different things throughout the week. It wasn’t always easy, but with compromises and positive attitudes the band worked everything out and are much stronger and closer as a result!
